Domain Names

To have a website on the Internet, you will need a domain name. Without a domain name, nobody knows where to find your website. The domain name can be compared to your address of your home. It is just not in the city where you live, but on the Internet.

Domain Name
A domain name is the unique name that identifies an Internet website. Domain Names always have 2 or more parts, separated by dots. The part on the left is the most specific (the actual name), and the part on the right is the most general.

Domain Names can be registered all over the Internet. Prices vary. There is almost no limit of how high a domain name can cost you. If you are a web hosting customer you might pay too much for domain names. You also might lose out on control over your domain name. “The Web Hosting Report” recommends to gain as much control over your domain name as possible. A domain name should not be registered with a web host to keep control over the DNS and everything else.
