Review of AdminGeekz.com System Administration Services

I already wrote briefly about my experience with AdminGeekz.com in my personal blog, but here is a more detailed review of their services. I have been on the hunt for a good system admin (service) that I can hire on occasion to get some work done on my servers. I am Ok with doing quite a few things, but sometimes it is just better to outsource certain tasks and let a real Pro take of the issues. My main server needed to be upgraded to PHP5 as support for PHP4 is being discontinued and I wanted to upgrade to Apache 2.0.x at the same time. While you can do that easily through WHM/cPanel and EasyApache, but what if something goes wrong?! I would be struggling a bit if something weird would happen. So, I wanted somebody else to help me.

I had posted on the cpanel forums and got a few responses, but nothing really giving me a warm, fuzzy feeling to make me feel comfortable. The worst response was actually coming from a company called “ServerProgress.com”. Their initial response was actually pretty good and I was ready to get going, but they did not get their act together. In the end it took them 2-3 weeks for a single response to my questions. I was not in a rush and was dragging my feed at the same time and so I had time to monitor the progress of this sales inquiry. I am glad about this, because I think I found a really great service provider while at the same time “ServerProgress.com” still has not responded back to my last question. πŸ˜‰

This last week I went over to Webhostingtalk.com and searched through the “Systems Management” offer forum and found a posting made by Scott of AdminGeekz.com. The posting was quite old, but still had responses from a few days ago. Pretty much all feedback was extremely positive and Scott had quite some track record in regards to number of postings on WHT. I gave it a shot and contacted him on Friday morning (Mountain Standard Time). My initial inquiry was responded to fairly quick and I sent a follow-up response and again received a response within 30 minutes or so. We were off to a good start. I had a couple more questions and they were answered in detail and in a very timely manner. I felt comfortable with Scott and AdminGeekz.com and placed my order without much more hesitation. Later that Friday evening the work on my server began. I had initially missed a technical detail and worked with the systems admin on it and we got going fairly quick. The work was done in the estimated time frame. I checked my websites and found one issue. I reported that issue back to the admin doing the work and less than 10 minutes later everything was worked out and verified by me. This one issue would have thrown me off track if I would have done this myself and so I was glad I had hired a good service provider. I asked for the invoice and 10 minutes later I had paid a very fair and reasonable price for about 1 hour of work. Now, 48 hours later my server is running very stable and no issues have been reported by users.

My conclusion about AdminGeekz.com: I really really love how this turned out. Great communication in a very timely manner. Even the quality of the communication was on a very high level and the courtesy I was treated with is not necessarily standard at other companies I worked with. The quality of the work was outstanding in my opinion. The pricing was very reasonable for the time and the work done. So, I can highly recommend the system administration service of AdminGeekz.com.

we have worked with admingeekz in the past and generally their services are very good – specially for server hardening.
