My WiredTree VPS was upgraded for FREE Or how I am saving $400 per year

I am a customer with WiredTree for quite a while now and I wanted to tell you about my recent experience with them. My web hosting itself has seen many moves over the years. I started out with shared web hosting at some smaller hosts, but back in 2003 I opened a reseller account with HTTPME.com. Then one of my websites grew and grew and I needed a dedicated server. I sold that website in 2009 for a nice 5-digit price tag and retired the dedicated server. I still had my reseller accounts with HTTPME the entire time.

A couple years ago I did a lot of online marketing and drove a lot of traffic to my websites. I needed more horsepower and bought a virtual private server (VPS) from WiredTree. A VPS is like a fully dedicated server, but with a little less resources. At the same time it comes with dedicated RAM, CPU, and disk – something that a reseller account cannot give you. The VPS with WiredTree was the solution I needed to drive more traffic to my websites. The VPS out-performed my reseller accounts easily. And the good thing with WiredTree is that their VPS products come with full technical support in case I would need it.

Over the years the VPS performed really good. I think I had some unscheduled downtime once or twice, but WiredTree immediately jumped onto the problem and my websites were back up in no-time. The server performance was good, too.

A while ago WiredTree upgraded all their hardware and included super-fast SSD drives. Solid State Drives (SSD) are super fast hard drives that increase the performance of any machine. I already have a SSD in my laptop at home and it improved the performance dramatically. As an example booting my laptop went from 1.5 minutes with a regular hard drive to about 18 seconds on a SSD drive. At WiredTree an SSD drive was added to the physical host server where my VPS resided and my websites started loading much faster. I saw improvements of about 55% (yes, fifty-five percent) on average compared to before. The nice thing about this upgrade was: it was completely free of charge for me. WiredTree did this to improve their products and to be a step ahead of the competition.

A couple weeks ago I received another email from WiredTree. They would be upgrading the existing hosting packages for all customers. My VPS would see up to 50% (!) increase in available resources accordingly. My VPS would get more guaranteed CPU, more guaranteed RAM, more guaranteed hard drive space, and last but not least the bandwidth allowance was increased as well. In pure numbers, here is how some of this looks like. I am listing RAM and bandwidth only as these are the items affecting me most.

1) My RAM was increased from 1024 MB to 1536 MB (50% increase).
2) My Bandwidth was increased from 3000 GB to 4000 GB (33% increase)

Last week my VPS was finally upgraded and I am very impressed. It really feels like a fully dedicated physical server from a performance perspective – even though it is just a virtual server. I am now at a point where I have plenty of resources available that I can consolidate some older accounts from other sources. As an example I have 2 reseller accounts with HTTPME and I am going to consolidate them into one reseller account and move the remaining websites to my WiredTree VPS. This will save me over $400 per year without having to spend a single extra dime – thanks to WiredTree.

wiredtree web hosting VPSIf you are in the market for a good VPS server, check out the current stats for mine at WiredTree. I marked the highlight of this package. If my websites would outgrow the current VPS 1500 specifications I can easily upgrade as there is plenty room to grow. So, depending on your own needs you might find the right package there, too. I can also recommend their technical support. They have been very helpful every time I have talked to them (and I made them work quite a bit a few times).

Disclaimer: Please note that I am paying customer at WiredTree and I am not being paid for writing this. However, if you feel like making a purchase at WiredTree, please use my affiliate links in this article. It will not cost you anything, but I would get a small referral free and it helps me to pay my bills and to keep this website up and running. Thank you!!
